Yes, that is correct. Public school teachers are 'Government' workers. Public schools are facilitated through state and/or local government and teachers are considered state workers, which often have specific benefit plans.

I am a hospital worker, organization UCHealth. It is a quasi-governmental agency. How do I answer the question: Is my employer a state or local government?

I am a healthcare worker working for SIU Carbondale. I have 403(b) and 457(b) plans through my job. How do I answer, "Is your employer SIU Carbondale a state or local government?"

@skyliner Yes, Southern Illinois University would be considered 'a state or local government' (State University).

Would New Jersey Transit Corp, a state-owned public transportation company. Would I answer "YES" or "NO" for this question? Thanks!

According to this State of NJ link, it is a state-owned public transportation system so that answer is yes.

Hello, I work at a public district hospital; organization EvergreenHealth. Is it a state or local government? I am unsure for tax purposes.

Yes, a public district hospital is a state or local government organization. Public Hospital Districts are community-created, governmental entities authorized by state law to deliver health services—including but not limited to acute hospital care—to district residents and others in the districts’ service areas.

Owned and governed by local citizens, hospital districts tailor their services to meet the unique needs of their individual communities.
