Remote worker in another state

I work for the State of California but live in another State and only visit my employer 1 day per year. Do I still need to pay California income tax?

Probably not.  It depends on how much you earn for that one day you visit.  If you earned less than the standard deduction, you would not need to file a CA tax return.  The standard deduction for 2024 is $5,540 for a single person.
