In 2018, I filed through TurboTax like every other year.
they file together and for some reason the IRS never received my state refund. There is no record of it ever even being filed. When I filed I went through all of the proper steps and it said that it was filed but when I called the Franchise Tax Board this morning there is no record.
when I talk to them they said that I need to send them a record or PDF of my 2018 return but when I look up the PDF it only seems to be showing my federal refund and doesn’t have any information about the state refund.
How do I find this information?
where can I find my state refund PDF?
Who do I contact to get this information?
I only have the free edition so I am not able to contact TurboTax through a phone number... but I need to know what steps I should take to be able to get my 2018 state tax return.
please help! There must have been some type of glitch and I really have no idea what to do!:(
the IRS does not get the state returns. if it was sent there, it is now shredded and in some landfill or has been recycled. in TT, how do you think you filed the state return - efile or mailed? if you efiled you should have gotten an email to saying accepted or rejected. if rejected then you never fixed it so the state never got it. if no email then it was never efiled. if it was mailed it could have gotten lost
open the TT file again and double check to make sure there is no state return. this would be unusual unless you did something to suppress Ca, you may need to talk to support. if it was prepared, you can print it out to file by mail - efiling is closed. if not prepared, you can talk to support about your options.
