Part resident claiming a dependent from previous state

I have recently move from Oklahoma to Michigan. I have provided my younger brother for the six months I've stayed until I moved and I was wondering if I can claim him as a dependent.

You can claim your brother as your Dependent on your Federal Return if he meets the criteria in this link Who Can Be Claimed as a Dependent.

If your brother is over 19 (or 24 if a student), he would have to live with you all year to be claimed as your Dependent.

If not, he still have to live with you for over 6 months.

Is it also okay if Michigan increases my return even though he never lived in Michigan?

Yes, because if he can be claimed on the federal return then Michigan will follow federal guidelines. As long as he lived with you for more then six months, then he can be claimed irregardless on whether he lives in Michigan or not.
