Oregon Return not paid through direct deposit

I filed my Oregon state return with a balance due and selected to pay through direct deposit. The printed copy of the electronic filing instructions confirm this: "Your return shows you have elected to pay your balance due of
| $xxxx by Direct Debit using the following information: xxxx"

It's been a week and the taxes are still showing unpaid with the state, and I'm seeing some information on here now they don't even accept direct debits and it must be paid separately. Is Turbotax lying to me that it will be direct debited??

I would contact your state.

List of Department of Revenue by state  List of state DOR's

If you want to check the debit date you specified, look on the filing instructions for your return.  It will tell you the debit date the IRS or State will deduct the payment.  If you did not print them out you can view them using the following steps:

TurboTax Online

  1. In TurboTax Online, sign into your account.
  2. You should be on your Tax Home page.
  3. Scroll down to Your tax returns & documents.
  4. Select 2024, and then select Add a State (you're not actually adding a state, this just gets you into the right menu).
  5. Once you're in your return, you can navigate around as usual.
  6. Click Tax Tools (in the black bar on the left of your screen) and then click select Print Center.
  7. Click Print, save or preview this year's return

TurboTax CD/Download

  1. Go into Forms Mode by clicking on the Forms icon in the top right of the blue bar.
  2. In the Forms in My Return list on the left, click Filing Inst.  [It's usually toward the bottom of the list.]  The form will appear on the right side of the screen.
  3. You can view the form on the screen or you can print a copy by clicking the Print box at the bottom of the screen.
  4. To return to the interview, click on the Step-By-Step icon in the top right of the blue bar.

The date and account information was correct, the federal return was withdrawn correctly. The issue here is that Turbotax told me the Oregon return would be paid and it wasn't, and the only notification I got is that the return was filed successfully. My payment is now late, I have an penalty, and it's 100% Turbo tax's fault for telling me it would be direct debited! Oregon doesn't accept bank information for debit payments.

Each return, federal and state has its own filing instructions page.   Payments from 3rd parties (TurboTax) take about 2-3 weeks to post, see Oregon Dept of Revenue.

Oregon does allow direct debit, see Payments Page.   But if your OREGON instruction page shows you selected direct debit, it will be a few weeks before you see the payment post.

This was not a third party payment. It's not a payment "from Turbotax", it just sends the bank ACH info and assumes the state will deduct the payment just like the IRS does for federal. Turbotax's electronic filing instructions it printed me out for Oregon specifically say "Your return shows you have elected to pay your balance due of $xxxx by Direct Debit using the following information" I just confirmed with Oregon that they don't support this method of payment. They do not take bank account numbers from turbotax for payments, ONLY for refunds. I was just on the phone with them for an hour. Turbotax's filing instructions were very clear that the payment would be made and the specific date which is false and misleading.

See below.  This is from the Oregon website regarding approved tax filing software companies, which TurboTax is listed as one of them.  It gives information on how to CHANGE the payment you schedule when submitting your e-filed return.  This means that the state of Oregon DOES take the payment information from TurboTax to make payments.  Otherwise, they would not give information on how to adjust your payment that was submitted with your e-filed return.

Also, as DawnC stated above, their website states that it takes 2 to 3 weeks for payments to process through third party vendors which is what TurboTax would be.

I Scheduled a payment with my e-filed return, but I received a notice that my return has been adjusted.  How do I change the payment amount before the due date?  If you want to change your scheduled payments, go to your Revenue Online account and select "Personal Income Tax" under "Accounts" at the bottom of the initial login screen. Once the next page loads you will select "View Scheduled Payments" from under "I Want To" on the right side of the screen. From there, a page will load with all the scheduled payments you currently have. You will see a "CANCEL" link if there is enough time left to cancel the payment

This did not occur, there is no scheduled payment. I talked to two people at ODR and they both confirmed that you must schedule and ACH payment through their own website. They do not accept ACH info for payments from Turbotax plain and simple.

How can I contact Turbotax to be reimbursed for the penalty it incurred me?
