I am filing a 2020 State tax return for my daughter and at the end it is producing a form NYC-1127.
She does not live or work in NYC so there are no city wages or taxes recorded on the IT 201.
It is also showing that she owes money and provides an NYC-1127 payment voucher.
Last year, 2019 she did work partially in NYC bout not at anytime during 2020 and I did not record any info relating to NUC earnings or taxes on the 2020 tax return.
How is this possible and should I re-file?
No. Your daughter does not need to file Form NYC-1127. Generally, only New York City employees living outside of the 5 boroughs must file Form NYC-1127. Form NYC-1127 cannot be e-filed as it is unsupported by TurboTax for e-file and therefore, was not sent to New York State. Although you can populate this form in TurboTax, you would have to mail it. The amount due on her 1127 voucher is not reflected on her IT-201. Since it was never sent to them, then your return does not have to be corrected.
