Moving expenses

Hi 

 

How I can add the   Moving expenses for MA state in Turbotax. 

Moving expenses are item number 5 in  Schedule Y. Other Deductions

You have to enter moving expenses in the federal interview, even though they won't be used on your federal tax return. They will flow to the state tax return.


In the Search box type "moving expenses" (without the quotes). Then click the link that says "Jump to moving expenses."

I have done that but I am not getting "Jump to moving expenses."

You didn't say whether you are using TurboTax Online or the CD/Download TurboTax software. If you are using the CD/Download software you can get to moving expenses by following these steps.

 

  • Click the Federal Taxes tab. (In TurboTax Home & Business click the Personal tab.)
  • Click Deductions & Credits.
  • Click "I'll choose what I work on." (In TurboTax Online click "Jump to a full list.")
  • On the screen "Your 2019 Deductions & Credits," scroll all the way down to the last section, Other Deductions and Credits.
  • Click the Start, Update, or Revisit button for Moving Expenses.

 

The steps in TurboTax Online are similar. There might be some extra steps to get to the full Deductions & Credits list.
