Is WV Form IT-140 not ready for use yet?

When running an error check on my state return, I am receiving a message indicating the following:

"Form IT-140: Federal AGI includes an adjustment for disaster related and/or covid related relief. We are still working on updates related to this for West Virginia and we'll remove this message when it's ready."

Is there a timeline on this being completed? Is there a workaround to complete my filing in the interim?

Thank you.

Following:

I have the exact same question and would like to know the answer.  I have spoken with two different CSR's today and received two different answers.  One saying to manually down load the state update again and it should work and another telling me there is no known date for this fix because it is the IRS holding it up.

Really want to know what the true answer is and when it will be available for update?

I updated the state forms manually and it didn't help.

I’m getting the same thing. Found this on the state site.

I also have this issue.  Getting very frustrated.

I talked to a turbotax specialist.  She said they are aware of the issue but don't have a timeline for the update. This is because they are waiting on the WV tax department to finalize revisions to WV forms.  Once the forms are provided from WV to Turbotax, then the update will be able to be performed.

TurboTax Expected Dates for State Forms to be Available states that the IT-140 is currently available to be printed and e-filed through TurboTax.

It looks like all the West Virginia forms supported by TurboTax are currently available for paper print and e-fiilng, except some of the IT-40ES forms are not available for e-filing.

So, why are we getting this error then? Should be just go ahead and file them with the error that’s there? Or wait?

Shows available but I get the same error, "FORM IT-140:  Federal AGI includes an adjustment for disaster related and/or covid related relief.  We are still working on updates related to this for West Virginia and we'll remove this message when it's ready."  I don't see an option to file with the error it just circles me around and around.  Assuming have to wait for some sort of update?

This is absolutely ridiculous. I kept circling around and around too. It’s beyond annoying that it took them weeks to fix the Cares act relief for 401k withdrawals and now I still can’t file because of some state glitch.

It will let me continue to file without fixing the error, I just hate to do that if there is really an issue that will cause problems on my return. If I knew for certain there wasn’t, I would just go ahead and file them.

Yeah it won't let me continue to e-file and I was hesitant to do so if it's going to create issues.

I just talked to WV Tax department. They said their forms are complete and there is no issue on the WV Tax Department side. They say its a turbotax software issue.

I think I’m going to go ahead and skip the error and file. Can’t get a real answer from turbo tax on the issue.

At the rate turbo tax is going we won't be able to file our taxes until April. Smh. I really hate to file somewhere else after using TT for years but this is getting a little ridiculous.

It won't even give me the option to skip over the error and file anyway

I agree. Turbotax you need to fix this asap or you’ve lost my business now and in the future.

After finishing the complete check, it gives me the option to “fix West Virginia return” or “continue without fixing”. If I chose continue without fixing it goes through the checkout process.

Did it let you e-file?  Or just paper file the wv return?

It would seem like continuing to process the return with the error could result in an incorrect calculation of taxes owed based on the expected value of the AGI on the IT-140. I'm assuming the error is thrown for this reason.

Perhaps @gloriah5200 or another Expert could provide an update based on the other information in this thread. As indicated, the software is throwing the error message during the error check, so we'd expect a timeline on resolution from TurboTax, not WV.

Thanks.

I haven’t filed it yet. I’ve just went through the 1st part of the checkout process to see if it would let me do it. It shows that it will be e filed though. As much as I want to go ahead and do it, I’d still like some clarification from TurboTax on the error before I do

Same here as I wonder if the correction will adjust taxes owed if you owe based on the correction and/or finalization of the form.

I went through the checkout process and it still wouldn't let me. Made me go back to fix my state

How did you fix the state form?  It gives me the form... But I don’t know what I’m supposed to change.

Continuing the saga...

i spoke to another turbotax specialist this afternoon (Brittany).  She was very courteous and really wanted to help me. I was on the phone with her for 54 minutes. I shared my screen with her so she could see the issue.  She escalated to “tier 2” specialist when she couldn’t get the answer herself as to when the issue would be resolved. Tier 2 specialist finally told her they could not give an update timeline and to just check back in 24 hours.

This is highly aggravating. Turbotax specialist have been very good to talk to but their folks on the technical side are apparently lacking.  If this issue is not resolved by tomorrow i guess i will be starting over and taking my business elsewhere.
