IHSS W-2

I’m a IHSS Live-in Provider and received W2 with box 1 having an amount way lower than than box 5. TurboTax is telling me there is an error to that.

“Based on your total wages, the Medicare wages in box 5 may be incorrect.
We recommend double-checking these amounts against your W-2 before moving on.”

First time doing this and would appreciate some help.

Yes, the In Home Supportive Services (IHSS) payments are typically excluded from taxable wages (box 1) but are included as social security (box 3) and medi-care (box 5) wages.  This should not stop your progress or filing of the returns.

Here is a FAQ on the subject.  (See questions 12, 18 and 19).
