How long does it take to finalize North Carolina return for e-file?

If you have no license and it is not required for verification, how long does it take to have North Carolina return finalized?

......and they say they are targeting "early" April to start issuing refunds  (if you are getting one).

Does this mean we shouldn't e-file via TT until then, or can we e-file earlier, and TT will save the return and forward it on to NC DOR then?

@DaveinCharlotte1

24th is currently the soonest TTX will allow NC to be e-filed...  (and you cannot get it back once e-filed).....so archived starting the 24th.

#1)   Still, I wouldn't e-file until the  first week in March at the soonest.  You don't want to be the first test cases with possible screw-ups that delay you even further.

#2)   IF you are Itemizing deductions on your NC taxes, check the NC interview again for any carryover Charitable contributions from last year showing up in the NC interview.  Those $$ may be waaaaay wrong and need to be zero'd out by you first.  (NC allowed people who donated over 60% of AGI cash to carry the excess to be used in 2021....over 50% of AGI for Items, over 30% of AGI for capital gain property)  .  Unless you were in that extremely rarefied area for your 2020 taxes, you should have 0's for NC Charitable carryover $$
