When trying to transmit e-file of RI 2021 tax return, I get Error message 'Tax Year 2021 Transmissions are not available. TurboTax is not ready to process Tax Year 2021 for the return'. I initially tried to transmit the Federal, MA and RI tax returns together and received this message.
I was able to transmit the Federal and MA tax returns individually. I've deleted Cookies and restarted the computer, but still encounter this error. It says to check for updates. The latest updates were installed prior to beginning the tax returns.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
I've got the same problem. Is it a RI state return problem?
Yes, the error occurred when trying to transmit a RI tax return. I did some research online and found that RI will accept transmission of tax returns beginning on February 12, 2022.
I got the same message on my home & business downloaded copy, however I was able to file my daughters return on the Turbo Tax Free edition this morning. Guess my son will have to wait!
Thank you very much for posting this! It was driving nuts trying to figure out why it wouldn't transmit.
The FED and the state of MA went off as they normally would, but RI won't transmit.
I just tried mine again after reading your post and success!
Looks like we're all set now!
I was able to transmit the RI tax return also after reading your post! Thanks. Sometimes it takes a village.
I am still having this issue with the State of Maryland.
i was able to transmit my nc and fed last night
unable to transmit daughter nc or fed free edition tonight
I'm in NC and I'm getting the error message saying tax year 2021 transmissions not available??? What is this?
No, it is not just RI, I'm getting the same error in NC. Two of my returns transmitted okay.
I am getting the same message in NC. What needs to be done to enable us to file our tax return????
Just got off the phone with an agent. Delete the State tax form and try again. After I deleted it with the agent Federal went through fine. I'll have to file State tax later. Hope this helps ya'll too!
In the case of RI, it wasn't a TurboTax issue, it was the state not ready to accept them.
I have no idea with NC, but it sounds the same.
RE: Error when transmitted efile NC Tax Year 2021. I received an email today telling me my tax forms are ready to submit. Installed the updates but it still wont submit my tax return. Any suggestions?

The email probably was sent because the Form D-400 is now available to be printed.
The North Carolina Individual Income Tax Return Form D-400 is not yet available for e-filing. It is estimated to be available on 02/24/2022
Go to this TurboTax website for North Carolina state forms availability - https://care-cdn.prodsupportsite.a.intuit.com/forms-availability/turbotax_nc_online_individual.html
I’m in NC, what do I need to do to get mine to go through?

If you want to e-file your federal tax return now then change how you file the NC state return. This assumes that all of the forms and schedules included in your federal tax return are available for e-filing.
If using the TurboTax online editions click on File on the left side of the online program screen. On Step 3 of the File section click on Start or Revisit. Select the button File by Mail. Then change the filing status of the state return.
After the federal return is e-filed and accepted by the IRS you can e-file the state return when it is available for e-filing. Just use the same procedure and change the state return back to e-filing.
