E-filing is now closed for returns except for a 2018 return that was filed timely before midnight on October 15, 2019, and rejected. If you tried to e-file before that deadline and were rejected you have until October 20 to try e-filing again. Otherwise, you now have to print, sign and mail your return.
When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS and/or your state received the return.
