efile

I can no longer e-file but already paid the $20 state e-file fee.  How do I get a refund?

Hello.  Thank you for letting us know.

The fee is actually not for e-filing.  It is for our program to assist in creating your return.  Sometimes, unfortunately, you are not able to e-file.  Please see the Help Article here for more details.

I agree. The state return is free with turbo tax, it costs $20 to e-file.  I did the same thing.   paid the $20 and then found out I could not e-file.  I want a refund.  How do I get it?

Well, I've been using Turbotax for over a decade.  Deluxe does include state tax (forms) but it doesn't include state efiling.  So you can print/mail state.  In fact the cover of the product clearly states "Federal Returns + Federal E-File"

My question is the (now) $25 CA efile fee.  Is that per efile or (like Federal) is that for up to 5 CA efiles?

It's for EACH state return (including the first one) is $20 to efile, usually goes up to $25 March 1. Or you can print and mail state for free.  Except NY is free to efile.

I paid $25 to efile Minnesota which was rejected.

I see you now need to jump thru hoops to get a refund.

@Cpt0866

No one in the user forum can resolve a billing issue.  If you have a question about your TurboTax fees or billing, make sure you use the word “billing” in your request for help.  Do not use the word “refund.”
