Efile state return

I submitted (Efile) my federal return and one state return two weeks ago. I now want to Efile my Arkansas state return using Turbo Tax. I get a message that says I have to Efile my state return at the same time I file the federal return. This was never explained to me when I filed my federal return. The software implies I can Efile my state return later. I don't want to send a hardcopy. How do I get around this issue?

start with FILE federal (and state).

TurboTax should notice that federal is done and move immediately to the state filing.

Yes, you can e-file your state return as long as your federal return has been accepted. Please see the information in this TurboTax FAQ below:

Nope. It acknowledges I Efiled my federal and first state returns. Also has selections to Efile or mail the second state return. when I select Efile state return and then push continue, its continues to say I have to Efile federal and state returns at the same time.   Went back and had the software re-confirm everything was acceptable on my returns and it was. Tried to Efile state return again and got the same message.

Verified the Turbotax software shows that both my federal and first state tax returns have been accepted.  Still doesn't work.

After reading the message thread, it looks like I have to delete my completed state return and start over to be able to Efile my second state return. I'll think about that for awhile before I intentionally delete everything.

it would be easier and cheaper to just mail it in.

States do not have a big backlog on paper returns like the IRS does.

Some states let you e-File from their tax revenue website, no charge.

Enter the amounts you see on your TurboTax return.

In my state it must be a resident return.
