California Tax Question

Hello All,

I have a tax question for CA taxes.  My wife and I have jobs (one each).  The last two years (maybe more, since Trumps tax plan change), I have had to pay CA State Taxes.  This year Turbo Tax told me I owned an additional $11 for underpaying my State Tax.  Um, what?  Isn't it our employers job to withhold and pay CA taxes?  We claim 0 for Federal withholding (yes free loan to the government, I know), I don't recall CA having a withholding option.  I emailed my HR department to get to the bottom of this, but if anyone has any insight on what is going on, then I would appreciate it.

California has its own version of the W4 that you can complete that may be more accurate for your state withholding.  See Adjust your wage withholding | FTB.ca.gov
