CA 540NR Error

I'm trying to help my in-laws file their CA tax returns and I keep getting a message about Line 12-State Wages does not equal the sum of the CA wages entered on the Form W-2 worksheet.  They are both retired and do not have a W-2.  I looked at both the Federal and State worksheets I completed in TurboTax and I checked all the boxes stating they do not have a W-2.  This might be one of the issues - they moved to Nevada in 2020 and have not contacted OPM regarding no longer being a CA resident so they still have CA taxes taken out of their annuity.  I have entered 0 in box 12 of the 540NR form but it will not accept that amount.  I would appreciate any suggestions on how to rectify this issue.

You'll never believe how I got it to work.  Remove all number characters so that section is blank.  I never entered the zero, it autofilled but after days of frustration I just removed everything and saved it and it finally transmitted to CA.

To clarify, have you mistakenly recorded W2 instead of a 1099R?  Check your forms and see if there is a W2 form listed in your list of forms. Meanwhile, be sure you record the 1099R exactly the way it is listed on the hardcopies.

I confirmed there is no W2 data entered.  I will probably just print and mail in their returns instead of filing electronically. All 1099R data is entered as stated on the forms.

Same issue. Dad retired. Moved to another State from CA. There is no W-2 data, but will not transmit until error corrected. Sending in with paper is not a solution, especially when I paid extra for e-filing

Thanks. I thought I tried that already, but after clearing out the entry, it finally worked.  Need intuit the fix this issue for the rest of those who follow
