Active Duty State Tax

I’m active duty living in Kansas. My state of residence is Virginia. I‘ve never had to submit a Kansas tax return before, but this year TurboTax is insisting I need to. I did sell my house here last year, is that why?

Yes, sale of real property located in Kansas is Kansas state income so it would need to be reported because it does not qualify as the active duty pay.
