Is 1099-NEC functionality Vaporware?

I've used the functionality to print some 1099-NECs and MISCs to print and mail, along with corresponding 1096 forms.

For over a week the forms are listed as "ready soon."

There was no indication on the front end that this was a "work in progress" as opposed to a functioning feature.

What is the holdup?  When will the forms become available? Reason for delay and ready dates only please.

Are you using "Create Forms" or Quick Employer Forms?   Try Quick Employer Forms.

I'm using "Create forms on Desktop" not "Quick Employer forms".
It looked like the right option since I don't want or need to efile anything. Also want to minimize data storage at Turbotax/Intuit (though I'm not sure the non-functional "Create forms on Desktop" vaporware does that.

Menus/options
Create Emplower Forms "Create 1099/W-2"
Skipped "Quick emplower forms" option (top)
Selected "Create forms on Desktop" (bottom) because I don't want/need to efile
Did not transfer any data from previous years (b/c there are none)
Skipped live tax advice
Landed at "Welcome - Easily Create !-2 and 1099 Filings for Employees and Contractors"
Then I input the data but never got a chance to print a form.

They will be checking for the "Create Forms" again tomorrow-----but a moderator tells me that you can use QEF now----so ....your choice.

I already spent considerable time inputting data into the Turbotax vaporware.
They really ought to pull non-functional sub-features that aren't ready for prime time.
Very disappointing.

The TurboTax Desktop program is being updated. You can check back at the end of the week or as an alternative, you can go to this link, Quick Employer Forms, and use your TurboTax Account to log in and e-file from there.

As you should know 1099-nec forms are due at the end of January.

Does Turbotax Intuit really think it is acceptable to launch a vaporware 1099 component that has an uncertain and evolving date at which it might finally be capable of printing out forms?

A vaporware component that entraps user data entry time?

And then dismiss user concerns by highlighting another, less attractive option?

Where is the "not an answer" button?

The correct response is "The TurboTax Desktop program for creating and printing 1099s is vaporware that should not appear until finalized given filing deadlines."

You're welcome.
