EIN required?

Hello,

My 17 year old created an LLC with me as a 5% owner because of her age.  If I'm reading the IRS site correctly, I have to pay for an EIN number to be generated because this is not a single member LLC and we're "not a married couple in a community property state."

The Business edition of the software won't let me continue without it, but she claims that "Washington state didn't require me to make an EIN when I created the company."

Please help me understand this.  Thanks.

Getting an EIN is a free service offered by the IRS, and you should be able to get an EIN right away.  You can apply online

You also must check with your state to make sure you need a state number or charter.
