Please see these pictures to find the "Search" button on the top right of the screen:

Another way to enter your 1099-R:

  1. Login to your TurboTax Account
  2. Click "Federal" from the left side of your screen
  3. Scroll down to "Retirement Plans and Social Security" and click "Show more"
  4. Scroll down and click "Start or Edit/Add" next to "IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R)
  5. TurboTax will walk you through entering information

Use the following steps to get started entering your Form 1099-R:

  • On the top row of the TurboTax online screen, click on Search (or for CD/downloaded TurboTax locate the search box in the upper right corner)
  • This opens a box where you can type in “1099-R” (be sure to enter exactly as shown here) and click the magnifying glass (or for CD/downloaded TurboTax, click Find)
  • The search results will give you an option to “Jump to 1099-R
  • Click on the blue “Jump to 1099-R” link

After you have entered your information, be sure to answer all of the follow-up questions so that the correct taxable amount will be reported on your return.

@AnnetteB6

There is no search bar. It just says my name, welcome to turbo tax then:

Personal info

Wages and income

Deductions and credits

Other tax situations

State taxes

Review

File

There is a question mark bubble in the upper right but it brings me to the virtual assistant.

Please advise, thank you

I have a 1099 R from a teacher retirement system and I cannot figure out how to add this 1099 R. When I click to add it only asks for the bank or financial institution URL. It does not recognize either of these.

how do I enter this 1099 r?

Doesn't work but I was in Forms.  Do I have to go to step-by-step just to add a 1099-R?  I saw a lot in the instructions about Quick Zoom, but none of that worked right for me. Either.

Thanks you kindly for your reply.

Yes. You would go through the interview process to add all your information. The screens enable the program to calculate the results.

If the IRS rejects your tax return you can add the Form 1099-R and e-file again.  If the IRS Accepts your tax return you will have to amend the 2022 tax return to add the Form 1099-R.

Wait for the IRS to process your tax return and send the tax refund or have the taxes owed and paid processed before amending the tax return.

See this TurboTax support FAQ for amending a tax return - https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-return/amend-change-correct-return-already-filed/L4VjJ9BA2_US_en_US
