Trying to correct an error

We are trying to correct an error on the Income and Retirement Worksheet. They want us to fill in the TP teachers retirement box. What number do we need to put in that box?

It sounds like you have some 1099Rs the transferred from 2019 with no amounts in them.  Go back to the 1099R summary page and delete any 1099Rs that are not 2020 1099Rs.   After you have logged in and are in your return in TurboTax Online:

 

  • Go to Search at the top of the screen.
  • Enter Form 1099-R in the search box. 
  • You will see a Jump To function that will take you to the 1099-R input screens. 
  • Delete the 1099R in question by clicking on the trash can next to the form then Continue
  • Run your Federal review again.

If that is not the case, go back and review your 1099R input screens to insure all boxes are filled with the information from your hard copy 1099Rs.

 

The 1099 Series are informational reporting forms submitted to the IRS by third parties. The IRS then matches the form information to your tax return to insure all income is reported and taxed.
