South Carolina Senior Deduction

The  tax program is doing auto addback of the $12000 for a retired couple extra deduction and also the $1500 extra new  deduction. It says SC has not yet conformed to the federal law??? When will this  be corrected or do we need to just removed those addbacks??

No, don’t remove the addback for your South Carolina tax return for the Senior Deduction and Additional Standard Deduction.  TurboTax is correct as South Carolina hasn’t conformed to the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) so the addbacks are required.

South Carolina taxpayers would need to adjust their tax returns if they claimed the senior deduction and the additional standard deduction.  You can wait to file your SC tax return after the legislature returns to session to find out if they make changes or you can file and amend your tax return later if there’s a change.

Please review the South Carolina Internal Revenue Code Conformity Update for more information.
