RMD's not properly marked

Using Turbotax 2022 Desktop on Windows.  We have several 1099-R's some of which are IRA's and some are pensions.  A question is asked, "Is this an RMD?".  If I mark any one of them as an RMD, they ALL get marked as an RMD.  If I edit the pension to indicate it is not an RMD, then they all flip back to not being RMD's, even though some of them are.  I've tried entering one, saving, closing and restarting, and then entering the next, but no dice: any change in one changes them all.  Got to be a bug!

For pensions.......

Say all of it is the RMD.  If you are 72  it will ask you if it is the RMD.  Say yes.  Anything your pension pays you is considered to be the  RMD.  Traditional pensions automatically fulfill the rules of an RMD.

It's okay to indicate that all 1099-R's are RMD.  If you're at the age to be required to receive RMD's all your Payors are responsible for distributing the RMD's to you, so all 1099-R distributions can be indicated as RMD's.

I'm sure this is wrong.  Some of these are not tax deferred accounts at all.  Some are straight up, old fashioned, NOT tax deferred pensions.  I can't leave my IRA's without an RMD just because I get a pension that is not a withdrawal from an IRA!

OK, I'm sure that will work as long as I do take the proper RMD from the sources that require it.  But, this is a new thing in TurboTax; it did not do this last year.  Last year I was able to state that the money from pensions was not an RMD and the stuff from IRA's was an RMD (which is how things are and how they should be stated).  This is definitely a bug in TT that should be fixed.

Still, I thank for for the work-around.  I'll do as you suggest.

No it's always been that way.

VolvoGirl is exactly right.  I re-opened TT2021 and in fact all the 1099-R's were marked as RMD's.  I had not noticed last year because I probably had not gone back to re-check my entrees.  I had marked each as an RMD or not as I came to it and had not gone back to see that TT had changed them all.

This works fine as far as calculating the amount of tax due; I do find it modestly annoying, but I guess that's just me.  Thanks for your very quick response on this.
