Public Safety Officer

I am retired from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, VA Police. During my career as a police officer I had Federal arrest authority, carried a firearm, and conducted criminal investigations. Would I qualify as employed as a "Public Service Officer" pertaining to excluding up to $3,000 of my retirement income, if the money was used towards health or long-term care insurance premiums?

Almost certainly yes.

Please see this TurboTax Help page.

I would presume that anyone with arrest powers granted by a governmental body would be considered a "law enforcement officer".
