Overcontribution 403b

Hello,

    I overcontributed to my 403b in the year of 2023, and i was originally told to report it the next time i do my taxes for the year of 2024, the 1099R form i have has the year 2024 on it , the distribution code is P, when i came to the end of this section on turbotax theres a message saying I may have to amend my 2023 return.. Do I?  How do I do this?

You can log in to your 2023 tax return and indicate that you are amending your tax return.  Add the 2024 1099-R (it will ask you what year the form says so indicate 2024).  The code P will add the income to the 1040X which you can then file.  Please let us know if you have any questions while working on this.
