New SALT Cap Not Showing?

When I have gone to file my taxes on TurboTax it is still referencing that the cap for SALT deduction is $10,000 for 2025. Pretty sure that is not accurate for someone who is only making a little over $100,000. Anyone else experiencing this or know what’s going on?

Both TurboTax Online (TTO) and TurboTax Desktop (TTD) should be allowing up to $40,000 in total deductions for State and Local Taxes (SALT) if your Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) is $250,000 or less filing Single ($500,000 (if MFJ).  If you are using TTD you can see your SALT deduction detail by going to Forms view and reviewing Schedule A.  If you are using TTO you can see you itemized deductions by doing the following:

  1. Type "Itemized Deductions" into search
  2. Click on "Jump to itemized deductions" link in Search results
  3.  On the "Your tax breaks" page scroll down to the bottom and click on "Continue"
  4. Depending on what other items are in your return you may see additional screens -
  5. Continue through these screens until you see the screen with  a comparison of Itemized Deductions and the Standard Deduction
  6. Click on the arrow next to "Show me the estimated breakdown"
  7. This will reveal a detail of your itemized deductions.

If you are seeing limitation on your SALT deduction, please respond and let us know if you're using TTO or TTD and where exactly you are seeing the deduction being limited.  Screenshots would be helpful.

If you are using the Desktop software, make sure you have successfully installed the latest updates.

the current version is 025pt000pt0235

( I use "pt" for the decimal pt, because sometimes the TTX autocorrect occasionally deletes things that look like telephone numbers)

When I click on review for my federal return that’s where I see the cap of the 10,000. It will only let me do a $10,000 deduction not 40 and then it says $10,000 cap for 2025IMG_2794.jpeg

. There is a screenshot

@Lv2ski4evr

In a different post, they think that is just a carryover mistaken text statement, and not what was actually being used.

If you look on your actual Schedule A , if line 5e is over 10,000, then that's what is actually being applied for those taxes paid to the state (yeah, have to use the Print Center for folks using "Online" software, in order to see the Schedule A),
