if the Schedule 2 form on the IRS website does not include retirement why is your software demanding that I pay for deluxe because I have retirement through my employer?

I called customer service to assist in determining why deluxe was required for me but not my mom with a similar tax situation - same employer/ benefits like retirement and deductions. Please keep in mind the schedule 2 form is available on the IRS website to the public.

What exactly does it say you need Schedule 2 for?  It has retirement on it in part 2 line 8 Other Taxes.   Did you make a IRA contribution or get a 1099R for a withdrawal?

It comes from Form 5329

I made typical contributions to a pre tax IRA which is not included in Schedule 2. I didn't get a 1099R because there were no withdrawals.

What is a pre  tax IRA?  Did you enter it under Deductions?  Pre tax items are normally only entered from your W2.   If you entered it again  under Deductions you may have made an excess contribution.  That would be on  form 5329 .
