Clergy Housing Allowance

My husband is a clergy person.  Over the past few years our taxes have been done by a CPA.  The CPA used a "Schedule 1 (Form 10400) Additional Income and Adjustments to Income" to document the housing allowance.  Last year, with a turbotax person we found how to enter that form.  This year I can seem to find a way to access it.  What do I do?

If you have a W2, there is a question after you enter it where you can indicate that it is for Clergy.  If you check that, you will get the questions to put the information on the Schedule 1.

We do not have a W-2.  We have 1099's

The excess of your housing allowance should be added on Sch 1. Follow these steps (vary by the program) to enter the income:

  1. go to the federal income section
  2. scroll to the bottom or select show uncommon income or show more income
  3. Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C, Start
  4. Scroll to the bottom
  5. Other reportable income, Start
  6. Other taxable income?
  7. Select YES
  8. Description  - something like excess housing allowance
  9. Amount, enter your amount
  10. Continue
