1099r entry

i filled out1099r form with block 7 answered 7 - normal distribution. I am getting a form 5329 in my forms with an exception code of 12, which tells me that turbotax is not recognizing the code on the worksheet - as if the code for box 7 is 1, j or s. while i believe the correct tax is being calculated, and there is no early withdrawal penalty, i have not seen this form during prior years when i used turbotax. the other 1099r's are not doing this.   any explanation?

I don't understand. Exception code 12 is because you told TurboTax that you had an exception.

In the screens after you entered the 1099-R, did you enter a number for "Incorrect Early Distributions"?

Step back though the 1099-R interview and see if you indicated any exception (TurboTax doesn't make exceptions up).

Worst case, there is a number trapped in your 1099-R but you can't see the screen to remove it. The fix is to delete the 1099-R and re-enter it.
