1099-R

Will not allow me to enter in amount from the 1099-R form.  According to Turbo Tax, the IRS has not completed distributions from pensions and that it should be operational by 1-21-2020.  Today's date is 2-03-2020.  How can I troubleshoot?

Your 1099-R entry form should be working in TurboTax.  Here are some troubleshooting steps:

  1. Is your TurboTax software up to date?  If you are using TurboTax Download/CD, check for updates (under Online menu on top row).  If you are using an Online version it should update when you sign out and sign back in.
  2. Try to "clear your cache and cookies", using the TurboTax Help article at this link as a guide.
  3. Delete the 1099R form currently in your TurboTax, so that it will load a fresh one. Click here for the instructions to delete a form in TurboTax Online.  If you are using the TurboTax Download/CD version, you click "Forms" (top right) and once in Forms mode you find any 1099R worksheets in the list in the left pane, and delete them.

This is an issue that comes up with Windows 7 & 8 This is technical, but it has worked.

Type'System.Data.SqlServerCe.SqlCeErrorCollection'

in assembly'System.DataSqlServerCe, Version=9.0.242.0 (version number may vary)

This occurs when Microsoft SQL Server Compact 4.0 is not fully installed.

Solution

To resolve this issue, close TurboTax and download and install SQL Server Compact 4.0 from Microsoft's website.

When finished, reopen TurboTax and try updating again by choosing Check for Updates from the Online menu in TurboTax.

If you receive an Unhandled Exception error after installing SQL Server Compact 4.0, do this:

  1. Open Windows Explorer and browse to the location C:\
  2. Program Data\Intuit\Common\Update Service\v4\Global.
  3. Right-click the Global.sdf file and choose Properties.
  4. Select the Security tab.
  5. In the Group or user names area, select your username and select the Edit button.
  6. In the new window, select the Allow checkbox that corresponds to Full Control, and then select OK twice to close the windows.
  7. Update TurboTax again.
