Stimulus Check Direct Deposit?

I used TurboTax for my 2018 and 2019 taxes. I elected to have my refunds mailed to me instead of using direct deposit. However, I received the stimulus check by direct deposit. How would this happen, if I never entered my bank information into my taxes.

Thank you!

No, I am not on Social Security.

Could it be because I work for a university?

are you sure the payment was for stimulus and not something else? otherwise, there is no way for the IRS to have your banking information......

Yes I am sure.  It says it came from the Dept. of Treasury and it is the correct amount.

Thank you for your help! It got figured out - forgot they were going by the 2018 taxes and not 2019.
