Stimilus Check: Eligible, Returns Filed, Check Not Received

I filed my 2018 and 2019 tax returns (a WHILE ago) and received the respective refunds direct deposit. I am definitely under 75k and not a dependent. I pass every other point of eligibility for the stimulus check direct deposit and yet still had the "Payment Status Not Available" window on the IRS site for weeks. Please, I'm living unemployment check to unemployment check and would really like to know why I haven't gotten a direct deposit as yet or why the site doesn't have a Payment Status available for me though I'm clearly eligible and clearly the IRS has my returns/banking info

Unfortunately, only the IRS has the information for why your status is "Payment Status Not Available"

https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus/get-my-payment-frequently-asked-questions#paymentnot

The Get My Payment application will return "Payment Status Not Available" for several reasons, including:

  • You are required to file a tax return, but:
    • We haven't finished processing your 2019 return
    • The application doesn't yet have your data; we’re working on adding more data to allow more people to use it.
  • You don't usually file a return, and:
    • You used Non-Filers: Enter Payment Info Here but we haven’t processed your entry yet
    • You receive an SSA or RRB Form 1099 or SSI or VA benefits; information has not been loaded onto our systems yet for people who don’t normally file a tax return.
  • You’re not eligible for a payment (see Eligibility).

We update Get My Payment data once per day, overnight so there is no need to check more often. If you are eligible for a payment and have provided your information either through a recent tax return or the Non-Filers: Enter Payment Info Here application, please check back for updates.

Thanks for replying, I saw the FAQ and none of these apply to me (The IRS has definitely added my data considering I got the refund for 2019 a month ago). Is there any contact I can reach to get color on this?

Sorry, with the IRS phones closed until this virus thing gets pushed out of the way, there is no one to call.  If I had a contact I sure would post it on these threads but there just isn't any that I am aware of.

The IRS will calculate and automatically send the economic impact payment to those eligible, with no action required for most people. For people who have already filed their 2019 tax returns, the IRS will use this information to calculate and distribute the payment amount.

For those who have not yet filed their return for 2019, the IRS will use information from their 2018 tax filing to calculate and distribute the payment. The IRS urges anyone who has not filed a tax return for 2018 or 2019 but is required to do so to file as soon as they can and to elect to receive their refund via direct deposit, in order to receive an economic impact payment as quickly as possible.

Those who will not receive a refund are still encouraged to file their 2019 tax return to provide the most up-to-date information to the IRS, but this is not necessary if you filed a 2018 return.

If you qualify for a stimulus payment and are not required to file a tax return, and do not receive Social Security income, you can e-file your IRS registration for free with TurboTax to receive your stimulus payment with our Stimulus Registration. Clicking this link will also allow you to estimate your stimulus payment.

I am in the same situation! It seems ridiculous that there is absolutely NO way at all to contact the IRS to find out what the issue is.  I will keep on investigating, but please provide an update if anyone finds out any additional information regarding this! It would be greatly appreciated!

The IRS can look at your 2018 or 2019 return to issue a stimulus check.  If they do not have a 2018 return then you may be waiting for them to finish processing 2019 before they will be able to use it to issue your stimulus check.

If you used the non-filer site, you will not be able to e-file a 2019 return after using the non-filer site.

TurboTax has no control over your stimulus check, nor can TT track it for you or tell you when the IRS will issue it. Refer to the sites linked below:

You can call the IRS hotline at 1-800-919-9835 to get updates on your stimulus payment.
