I was just asked asked to submit a w9 for a job I just did but, I'm not a registered business. How do I handle this? Am I a sole proprietor or something? Any help is appreciated!

Yes you are a individual/sole proprietor or independent contractor or freelance. They are all the same. You will file it as self employment income on Schedule C .
