2nd stimulus check

I received my first stimulus check with problem. I have since stopped using that bank account listed on my last tax form, and I called the IRS only to be told to wait and see. I need to change my address and enter my new bank info and I'm not sure what to do. Anything would help me. I'm seeing a form I can fill out thru the IRS, but it takes 2-8 weeks to process and I'm afraid I'll lose the opportunity to get anything.

A change of address at this time will definitely not prompt a payment from the IRS.  Instead, you should claim the payment as a credit on your 2020 tax return.

Unfortunately, there is not any way to update bank account information for this second round payment.

You will claim the Recovery Rebate Credit in TurboTax by answering the two questions about the stimulus payments that will appear at the end of the TurboTax interview.

The questions are in the section Federal Review.

Once the information is entered you will see your refund increase or balance due decrease, and TurboTax will enter the amount of the credit on Line 30 of Form 1040 for you.

The IRS is distributing payments through January 15, 2021.  Please wait until after this date to submit your tax return so that you will be filing the most accurate return possible.
