To get started, enter your W-2 and verify your military rank when prompted within the TurboTax Online Product (Free Edition, Deluxe, Premium). Your discount will be applied when you are ready to file.

 

To enter your W-2, please follow the instructions on the page How do I import or enter my W-2? 

 

Please keep in mind that only enlisted (E-1 through E-9) active duty and reserve personnel are eligible for the Military Discount. Commissioned officers, warrant officers, veterans, retirees and National Guard do not qualify for free TurboTax Online discount at this time.

i.e you have tow place that your military service has to be affirmed

 

1) In teh my Info section, where you enter your personal information and indicate your service and E-rank.

and

2) On a page after them main entry of your W-2, where there are a bunch of checkboxes.....one in the middle must be checked...indicating it is a military W-2.   (i.e. Not all DFAS W-2 forms are for military service members}
