The proper link is actually: https://turbotaxshare.intuit.com
this does resolve to the link listed by @alump93232
You can do it from within the program. See the screenshots below. You will go to Tools in the menu to the left.
If you are on the phone with a TurboTax professional you can get the code by hitting shift and enter.
The professional will explain how to do it.
If you are not on the phone with a professional, why are you looking for the code?
Go into your account and return (click "Pick up where I left off")
Click Tax Tools on the left side (under File)
Click Tools from that drop-down
Click "Share my file with Agent" at the bottom of the list on the Tools Center screen
Click OK to the dialog box
The screen-share code is the "token number" listed on the screen
You would get the code while connected with a Turbo Tax Specialist.
If you would like to speak with one, please click here.
You must be on the phone with an expert before you generate the code. Click on the Cobrowse link at the very bottom of the TurboTax page
New for Tax Year 2020, you may not need to generate a code at all. If you use the "Contact US" button (accessed from within the search panel) your expert will be able to send a pop-up window directly to TurboTax Online. All you do is click "Accept" on the pop-up - no code needed.
@eknecht In the desktop version of TurboTax, choose the Online menu option, then ScreenShare Code. If working online with TurboTax, you need to be on the phone with a TurboTax agent, and then you hit the Shift and Enter keys on your keyboard at the same time.
When you go live with a tax expert they will instruct you how to generate the code.
A screen share code is generated every time you make a live call to customer service or to speak to a tax advice specialist. These are not retained after the call.
@Erucan14 If you are working in the desktop version of TurboTax, you can get a screen code by using the Online menu option and then ScreenShare Code. If you are working online with TurboTax, the agent you talk to can tell you how to get a code that will allow for screen sharing.
This is not the correct answer. The share my file with an agent let's the agent upload your tax software into their Turbo Tax Desk to so that they can help the customer fix issues with their return.
There are two different items being discussed here.
If you are speaking with a TurboTax Live agent, they will prompt you to select Cobrowse at the bottom of your screen. This allows the expert to guide you and see your tax return only. The expert can only see your TurboTax program. Any confidential information cannot be seen by the expert.
If you are referring to the Share my file with an Agent function, this creates a "sanitized" version of your tax return so an agent can help you troubleshoot any issues you are having.
This version of your tax return removes any personal information such as account numbers, Social Security numbers, or anything else that is confidential. The agent will only be able to see the overall tax input and determine where any issues are and can then find a resolution for you so you can continue with your return and file.
