Retirement tax questions
If your father had only Social Security income, he does not need to file a return at all. If you are trying to claim your father as a dependent, you do not add his social security to your tax return anywhere. It's basically income that no one has to file on a return or pay tax on. The only way he would have to file a return if he is married and filing as married separate.
