Retirement tax questions
No, it will not be an issue if you have the same amount in Box 14 (State Distribution Amount) as in Box 2a (Taxable Amount), as it is probably also the same amount as in Box 1 (Distribution Amount).
Even though Box 14 may be blank on your original 1099-R, if the state taxes the 1099-R income, it automatically transfers the Taxable Amount from 2a.
This is often left blank on 1099-R's as it is not known by the Plan Administrator if the state will tax all, part, or none of the distribution for a particular taxpayer.
