Retirement tax questions
You should have received a 1099-R from PA for your retirement. You will enter this in the federal section under retirement income. To do this select the following:
- Federal
- Income
- Retirement Plans and Social security
- IRA, 401k, Pension Plan Withdrawals, (1099-R)
- continue through the steps to enter your 1099R
Then if this is an eligible plan in PA (such as your pension after reaching retirement age), as you walk through the PA questions you will need to look for the spot that asks about your plan and if it applies select "I'm eligible: Plans eligible" This will remove it from PA taxable income. As PA does not tax certain eligible retirement benefits.
If you are not eligible and the plan is not eligible, then you would select the appropriate answer that applies to your situation.
