- Open or continue your return.
- In the Federal section, select Wages & Income.
- Scroll to locate Retirement Plans and Social Security.
- Select Start or Revisit next to IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R).
Enter the information on the form as it is; after you enter the form make sure that when the program asks "Where is your distribution from?" Select that it's a qualified government retirement distribution. The program will ask additional questions about your retirement. Continue and finish your federal return.
TurboTax will calculate your allowed deduction in the state return. When you get to your West Virginia return, the program will have a screen that'll show your adjustments to the retirement income.
