Retirement tax questions
Social Security is only taxable if you have other taxable income entered on your return. If the 1099-R that you entered didn't show taxable income but it should have or if - as @VolvoGirl mentions above - you accidentally ticked the box that your mother lived in another country or left it blank then the incorrect amount of Social Security would have shown as taxable. The IRS would have to correct this and send you notice about it. There isn't anything TurboTax can do to change that.
