@MythSaraLee Sorry you are so confused. Did you only get SSA-1099 Social Security last year? If you ONLY get Social Security it is not taxable and you do not have to file any tax returns to Federal or to NY. Unless you had any Income Tax Withheld in box 6. Then you can file a federal tax return to get back the withholding.
