Retirement tax questions
Maybe it's just misleading.
The Federal review page includes stuff that is not part of the 1040 form's AGI. I figured this out for one of my test files that was ~$36,000 different
Take your 1040, line 11 (AGI)
Add line 2a (Tax-exempt income)
Add the difference between line 6a and 6b (the part of SS that was not taxed)
Add any rollover $$ you entered for an IRA or other pension 1099-R $$ that you rolled over.
Add any QCD $$ that were not included in line 4b

i.e. the Federal "Review" page includes every scrap of income that you entered...whether it added into AGI in the first place or not.
