Retirement tax questions
On the form 1099R you may see the number called a Payer's TIN or EIN or FEIN; all mean the same number. The payer's identification number.
You'll find it near the payer's name/address typically on the left hand side of the form and it will be a nine digit number in the format XX-XXXXXXX. That entry is required for a successful e-file.
If you still have trouble locating the number on the form you should contact the payer to get the correct number.
