Actually...if you are entering yoru SSA-1099, and the software is asking for a TIN ????
Then you are entering it in the wrong area/form !!
The Sofware only asks for that for the 1099-R forms, and an SSA-1099 is NOT a 1099-R.
Delete what you've entered there, and go look for the SSA-1099 menu line on the Wages&Income page.
