Retirement tax questions
If your ONLY income is Social Security you are not required to file an income tax return unless you also will receive a 1095A for having marketplace insurance (Obamacare). Or do you have any tax withheld from your SS? If so you can file for a refund. Your mortgage interest has no effect since you cannot get a refund unless you have enough itemized deductions to exceed your standard deduction; and if you have had no tax withheld, there is nothing from which to get a refund.
