Retirement tax questions

If Social Security is your only income you are not required to file a tax return unless you have a 1095A for marketplace health insurance.    If you have other income in addition to the Social Security you may need to file a tax return.

Who has to file?

When you are on Social Security you will receive a SSA1099 each year in late January.

Go to Federal> Wages & Income>>Retirement Plans and Social Security  (SSA1099 and 1099RRB) to enter your SSA1099.
