Retirement tax questions

Employees who work for employers receive W-2's.   If you did not work as an employee you will not receive a W-2.   You might receive a 1099R for retirement income, a SSA1099 for Social Security, or any of a variety of other sorts of 1099's for other kinds of income like interest, investment income, rental income, etc.etc.etc.

Do not try to enter your SSA1099  or RR1099RB as a W-2.  Go to Federal> Wages & Income>>Retirement Plans and Social Security  (SSA1099 and 1099RRB) to enter your SSA1099.

To enter your retirement income, Go to  Federal> Wages and Income>Retirement Plans and Social Security>IRA  401 k) Pension Plan Withdrawals to enter your 1099R.
