Since 10's of millions of tax returns are e-filed annually without the need to send any type of tax form with the e-filed return where is the BS?
On rare occasions the IRS will ask for the actual form from the taxpayer. This is usually caused by the payer either not providing the form to the IRS or the form provided is incomplete. It may also be a security check from the IRS if identity theft is suspected.
