OK ... the I-9 form is to verify you are eligible to work in the US legally.
Then you should have also filled in a W-9 for the trucking company so they can send you a 1099-NEC (formally a 1099-Misc) in January the same way an employer has you fill in a W-4 so they can issue a W-2.
